Our hostel offers everyone clean, spacious rooms, with quality furnishings.  Real Mattresses, No foam and absolutely NO BUNK BEDS.  Castaways has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and is truly your home away from home.

FREE Stuff

Every night you stay with us at Castaway's Backpackers we provide you with a free evening meal at the world-famous Woolshed Bar and Grill in the heart of Cairns. The meals are from a set menu. For a few dollars more you can upgrade to the full menu.

Pick-ups

We provide a free pick from Cairns Airport, the train station and the bus transit terminal.

Courtesy Bus

Even though Castaway's is only 5 min walk to town we provide a courtesy shuttle, from early morning until well into the evening, to ferry you to town.

Whether you need local, regional or national help our on-site no fee booking service is here to assist you with all your travel needs whilst in Australia, including airfares, coach, bus and rail travel.

Access

For clients arriving late at Castaway's you have 24 hour access. Your room key will not only open your room door but also the FRONT door.

Deck

Plenty of relaxation available for the tired traveller.

Pool

The pool is a great place to meet new people and soak up the tropical sun on the deck for the great Australian Tan. Around the pool there are sunbathing lounges, seating and tables. Of course if you get to hot you can sit under the waterfall up the deep end.

Kitchen

Castaway's has a great fully equipped kitchen to suit the noodle connoisseur or the gourmet chef.

Laundry

In the Laundry area there are plenty of washing machines, dryers and a ironing board.

Storage

Whether you are going on an overnight trip to the Daintree, the Great Barrier Reef or just departing late we can store your luggage in a secure locked up room.

TV / video

We have a nice TV lounge with lots of free movies .

Social nights

Free Wine & Cheese nights twice a week are a great way to mix with fellow travellers, swap stories and have a chat. These nights are a great way to start a "Woolie party hardy" night.

Divers

Just about every one involved with Castaway's is crazy about the diving or snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef. Just ask any of the staff and they will give you their option.

Forward bookings are advisable especially in July and August.
